PLEDGES: Send in your pledge
cards. It is vitally important that we remember the
gifts of our church and the services it can provide.
Without your pledge of time, talent, and treasure,
this church will not reach its full potential.
The church has fixed expenses. The church
supports many mission projects as well as
scholarships for youth. As you give to God, so
shall he return his gifts to you!
Adult Mission Yearbooks have
arrived! The books are located on the
bookshelf outside the church office. There
will be NO children's yearbooks published this year.
Desert Pulpit articles are due

Men's Fellowship Breakfast:

Each May we honor our
attending 4th graders, 8th graders and graduating
high school Seniors with Bibles. If you have or know of one of these young people please contact
Charlyn Van Slyke so we can order Bibles for them.
Anyone interested in
participating in the Sunday morning Worship Jazz
Band, there will be rehearsal every Sunday at Noon
in the Sanctuary. All ages and music levels
invited.
We are back to our Fall/Winter
worship service schedule; Sunday school for
all ages is at 9am and Worship is at 10:15am.
This years recipient of the
Ralph Bolin Scholarship is Cassandra Van Slyke.
Cassi will be attending Corban University in the
fall and majoring in vocal performance and
participate in their theatre program.
Here at First Presbyterian
Church it is tradition to give our 4th graders, 8th
graders, and graduating Seniors Bibles. I am
happy to say that this year we had:
one 4th grader: Jackie Delbridge, three 8th graders:
Ezra Jones, Sky Girard, and Madison Merschel, and 18
graduating seniors: Allen Andrae, Alisa Culp, Nicole
Delbridge, Trinda Freese, Cassi Van Slyke, Kevin
Jones, Veronica Green, Amber Wilcox, Matt Schorsch,
Jared Fisk, Jessica Hays, Keegan Hughes, Genevieve
King, Juie Stefka, James Moseley, Darrick Ward, Gus
Paoli and Ciana Parker. We also had
three
graduating from college: Aaron Jones, Andrea Licht and Lori Passmore. Congratulations to all.
General Announcements
The FPC Stephen Ministry program
became inactive Sept. 8, 2010, due to a shortage of
people willing to be trained as Stephen Ministers. It
can be reinstated the moment there is sufficient
interest expressed in doing so.
Cathryn Kerth has donated her
extensive organist music library to FPC containing both
beginning and advanced religious and secular music.
Anyone interested in checking any of the music out as
you would at a library should contact the church office.
To
make a donation to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance,
one of the most effective things our national church
does for crises like the ones in Haiti and Chile, go to
www.pcusa.org/pda and click on the link that
allows you to make an instant donation. Or, if you
prefer, you will find an address there to which you
can send a check.
Coupons!! If you are a coupon
user there are coupons available for anyone who is
interested. There is a coupon box on the table
outside the church office. Please feel free to
take any coupons you can use and leave any that you want
to share.
Presbyterian Coffee Project--Free Trade
coffee (caffeinated and decaffeinated in
both whole bean and ground), tea, chocolate
bars, and hot cocoa mix are available for
purchase from the church office during regular
office hours. Let Susan Jones (738-5995) know if
you need to buy them on Sunday, or if you
want different products.
Per Capita
for 2011 is $38.00.
Hobby Group meets at noon on the second Tuesday of the month for a
buy-your-own lunch to celebrate birthdays for that
month. All are welcome to attend lunch. Hobby Group
meets every Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Parlor.
Due to privacy laws, we cannot always be
informed of those receiving care in the hospital or
the manor. If you or a loved one are going into the
hospital or the manor, please call the Church
Office or call Pastor Pat.
The
monthly newsletter Is
available for viewing on this website. If you would
like to have this newsletter mailed to you, please contact
the office at 738-3430 or

Come by the church office to check out the
books and DVDs from Pastor Pat's favorite-authors
series. The library at the front entrance of the
church is provided for use on an “honor system".
Everyone is welcome to use the books as long as they
return them in a timely manner.

assigned dates. Those listed are also in charge of
setting up, serving, and cleaning up. If you plan to change the date/time for
your coffee hour responsibility, please notify the
church office in advance.
Food and Other Donations
Mission Committee: Donations of nonperishable food and other items are
always welcome for Friends in Service Helping (FISH),
Ruby Mountain Resource Center, Center Against Domestic
Violence (CADV), and other mission focus efforts.
Specific items needed currently are listed in the church
bulletin on Sundays. Please put all items in the basket
by the church office the Mission Committee will
distribute the food and other items to appropriate
recipients. If you are
aware of any immediate concerns or emergency needs
related to Mission projects or community outreach,
please contact an elder or deacon.
CADV
(Committee Against Domestic Violence) is collecting
used cell phones. Donating a used, unwanted cell
phone allows community members to support an
important cause. Drop boxes are located at: Arctic
Circle and Elko Daily Free Press.
